The idea is to feel good from the inside-out as you harmonise body, breath and mind. Then you can maintain this personal reintegration by developing intelligent personal practices beyond our time together.

We have great respect for the origins and unfoldment of Yoga

This is a rich discipline with philosophical, scientific and experiential components. We would like to acknowledge all our teachers and students/clients to date. We are also very grateful to the lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, Indian yoga teacher, ayurvedic healer and scholar who has been one of the most influential figures of the 20th Century. Often referred to as the father of modern yoga, he taught master yogis like B.K.S. Iyengar, Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, Indra Devi, T.K.V.Desikachar and A.G. Mohan.

Making yoga relevant and real for you

We find it is important to make the practices relevant to our socio-cultural context and will often acknowledge the traditional as well as employ approaches that resonate with the teacher and individuals present. For example, for those who have sedentary work we understand that the traditional meditation lotus posture may be next to impossible to begin with (or in this lifetime) so we will look at ways to support your meditation and relaxation in more suitable positions.

For those who choose to go deeper into their journey it is important to acknowledge the spiritual tradition that supports Yoga and equally important to respect your and our personal spiritual belief system. We do not teach spiritual practices that relate to the Vedic texts, Tantra, Hinduism, Buddhism or Jainism to the best of our knowledge.

What you can expect during a session

  • Checking-in to meet you where you are at on the day and determine the purpose and rhythm for your practice
  • Beginning with body, mind and breath awareness
  • A gentle warm-up and stretching to prepare the body for the physical practice
  • A balanced sequence of postures including preparatory work and counter-pose release work, with adaptations to suit your needs
  • Exploratory work to deepen your practice based on your needs and aspirations, along with suggestions for a personal program
  • Quietening down, relaxation breath-work and/or meditation
  • Reflection and feedback from you in preparation for our next session together
